19] – From Mon. through Wed., Sept. 1, 2 and 3, there will be a series of resistance actions to Remove the Regime.  Congress returns on September 2nd, and its members are hoping to carry on like nothing is wrong. Not happening. Flood the Halls and make your voices heard. Demand that our government put workers over billionaires in front of the D.C. National Labor Relations Board headquarters on Sept. 1 at 4 PM. Meet at FLARE, Columbus Circle. Visit http://FLAREusa.org

D.C. is being used as a testing ground for expanding federal abductions beyond perceived immigrants. They have taken federal control of law enforcement and brought in the National Guard under the guise of ridding the city of crime - and unhoused citizens. This is a clear authoritarian move, right out of the fascist playbook. They want to scare and desensitize us into allowing them to abduct anyone they want to off the streets. Why now? It is also a fantastic distraction from the Epstein files. The base will be the Resistance Action Center, 35 Columbus Monument Drive NE (Union Station), WDC.  On Sept. 2 at 10 AM there will be protests in front of all three Congressional office buildings.  Also at 10 AM, join a rally with speeches from Jessica Denson and Representative Al Green at FLARE, Columbus Circle.  Do Big Beautiful Congressional visits to every House and Senate office on Sept. 2 and Sept 3 starting at 10 AM. Meet at FLARE, Columbus Circle.

20] Join the Teachers Association of Anne Arundel County, as well as other community and labor allies, for an afternoon of actions! Hear from local organizers and leaders, learn about ways you can get involved, and participate in an art build (kid-friendly on Mon., Sept. 1 from 2 to 4 PM.  Gather at Kurtz's Beach, 2070 Kurtz Ave., Pasadena 21122. Sign up at https://www.mobilize.us/aflcio/event/830593/

21] –Honk for #WorkersOverBillionaires on Labor Day, Mon., Sept. 1 from 3 to 6 PM at Riderwood Park, 922 Kenilworth Drive, Towson 21204. Help stop the billionaire takeover. They are converting the government into their private slush fund and just passed the largest wealth giveaway in the history of the US. The money they take from working families, they put in billionaires’ pockets and set aside to fund a private army of ICE agents. RSVP at https://www.mobilize.us/mayday/event/826677/

22] –BALTIMORE PEACE ACTION invites you to a BLOCK THE BOMBS rally in FRONT OF CONGRESSPERSON MFUME’S OFFICE, 1010 Park Avenue, Baltimore 21210 on Tues., Sept. 2 from 2:30 to 3:30 PM.  What Is the Block the Bombs Act? On May 21, Reps. Delia Ramirez, Sara Jacobs, Pramila Jayapal, and Mark Pocan, along with 18 other original cosponsors, introduced a historic bill–H.R.3565, the Block the Bombs Act, to prevent the Trump administration from sending weapons to Israel.  As of August 27, 2025, 37 members of the U.S. House of Representatives have signed the "Block the Bombs Act" (H.R. 3565) as co-sponsors. Congressperson Mfume HAS NOT SIGNED! Contact Richard Ochs at Richardochs10@gmail.com

To order by postal mail, make your check to Open Door Community.  Send it to Open Door Community, PO Box 10980, Baltimore 21234.  For any questions, contact David Payne at 404-290-2047 or davidpayne@opendoorcommunity.org.

5] – Another book to consider purchasing is Male Supremacy in the Catholic Church: An Insider’s View by Roy Bourgeois. His new book is both memoir and position-paper, and it makes the case that the Roman Catholic Church is a corrupt system that spits out truth-tellers. The crime he was excommunicated for was attending the ordination ceremony of Janice Sevre-Duszynska in Lexington, Kentucky, in August 2008. The ordination was under the auspices of the Association of Roman Catholic Women Priests.  The Vatican’s response has been to excommunicate any woman who has the audacity to see herself as a priest equal to a male priest. You can purchase a copy from Amazon or by Kindle.

Here are two quotes to contemplate: “I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over men. She is to keep silent.” – Timothy 1, 2:12-13.  “If the patriarchy that dominates the church is not dismantled and women are not treated as equals, the church will continue to diminish and, eventually, die.” – Roy Bourgeois.

6] – Get with the Avelo Takedown on Sun., Aug. 31 from 10 AM to noon. The August All-Societies Platform is a collaboration with the New York Society for Ethical Culture.  This Labor Day, the outlook for organized labor power in America is grim. Already, the Trump administration has decimated the federal work force, torn up union contracts, broken our system of labor law enforcement, and pushed us down the road to fascism and oligarchy. Despite all that, however, one fundamental, structural truth has not changed: Labor power is still one of the only things that can pull us back from this precipice. What would that look like? Let’s talk about it.  Nolan is an author and journalist who writes about labor, politics, and class war.

12] – Alan Minsky for Progressive Democrats of America [info@pdamerica.org] hopes you will attend on Sun., Aug. 31 at 4 PM ET the weekly Town Hall.  Get a report back from the DNC meeting held in Minneapolis this past week. A number of new progressive-supported Party rules and bylaws were passed there, along with some excellent progressive resolutions, including one that calls for the elimination of dark money from all Party caucuses and primaries, including the race for the Democratic Presidential nominee. There were two competing resolutions on Gaza. PDA supported Resolution 18, which resembled Rep. Delia Ramirez's excellent Block the Bombs Act, and was introduced by Florida DNC member Allison Minnerly. In spite of our best efforts, Resolution 18 was voted down in committee, where an alternative resolution, much more sympathetic to Israel, was passed.

However, DNC Chair Ken Martin intervened at this point and withdrew both resolutions and, in coordination with Allison Minnerly (among others), announced the formation of a special commission to study how the Party should respond to the war on Gaza. Many activists and pro-Palestinians advocates were understandably frustrated at what they saw as more deflection by the DNC and denial by its members. Still, Chairman Martin's action when he pulled the pro-Israeli resolution that had been supported by the committee was the opposite of what the pro-Israel lobby groups wanted. Indeed, this was far from what we wanted too, but at the same time it was a major setback for AIPAC.

PDA will renew its bonds of support and vow of solidarity with the American and International Labor Movement. Then, the will be a discussion how PDA can best work in coordination with organized labor and the Democratic Party to defend and strengthen our constitutional republic, rebuild a prosperous middle-class society, and vanquish Trumpism. 80] – Hideaki Ito [silentfalloutproject.org@gmail.com] wants to give you an update about the Silent Fallout Project. It has been more than five months since Silent Fallout was screened in Baltimore. He wants to express his sincere gratitude to all who supported the project during its US tour and hosted screenings. The film was shown in 20 locations over 43 days to over 600 people. The film aims to raise awareness about the reality of radiation contamination across the American continent and how many Americans are unknowingly exposed. It helps people understand that they are impacted by this issue and then use the US as a starting point to spark a global conversation about radiation.

Currently, the project is facing a deficit of $100K, and its future is uncertain. However, Ito is determined to raise funds and continue its activities. In 2025, which marks the 80th year since the birth of the atomic bomb, there is a plan to embark on a European screening tour, produce a new film, conduct a second US tour, and host a large-scale event on August 6th. “One is called to live nonviolently, even if the change one works for seems impossible. It may or may not be possible to turn the US around through nonviolent revolution. But one thing favors such an attempt: the total inability of violence to change anything for the better" - Daniel Berrigan
