19] – From accredited Japanese director Hideaki Ito comes SILENT FALLOUT which tells the untold stories of the victims of nuclear testing in America. The documentary will be at Annapolis Friends Meetings House, 351 Dubois Road, Annapolis 21401 at 6 PM on July 15, in Washington DC at American University on July 16, in Baltimore at 7 PM at Homewood Friends Meeting House, 3107 N. Charles St. on July 17 and at Towson University on July 27.  Unfortunately, the US nuclear arsenal is stealing billions of tax dollars from numerous social programs. This documentary could lead to discussions about why is the US government wasting funds on weapons of mass destruction?  Check out this list of upcoming screenings: https://us.fallout22.com/tour/?emci=730c6b43-12c9-ee11-85f9-002248223794&emdi=ea000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000001&ceid=#schedule

Director Hideaki Ito chronicles the story of radiation exposure and harm in the U.S., and the previously untold story of those who tried to expose it. In 1951, nuclear weapons testing began on the US mainland. Hundreds of miles away in St. Louis, Dr. Louise Reiss began collecting baby teeth from other mothers in her community. Through studying these teeth, Reiss found that American children—not just the so-called “Utah Downwinders”—had been exposed to dangerous levels of radiation. Silent Fallout traces these stories and others, journeying from Salt Lake City, to Virginia, to Missouri, to the United Kingdom, and to Japan, exposing the government deception behind the bomb.  Contact Max at 410-323-1607 or mobuszewski201 at Comcast dot net

The Danger Season is what the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) calls the period between May and October when the United States and the Caribbean usually experience their worst climate impacts—came in hot in 2024. With fossil-fuel pollution trapping heat and driving up global average temperatures, those warmer months are warmer than ever. Higher ocean and air temperatures manifest in storms, heat, precipitation, drought and wildfires that can be more intense, more frequent, and/or longer lasting.

24] – Join the Baltimore Nonviolence Center on Tues., July 16 from 5 to 5:30 PM ET at 33rd and N. Charles Sts. The invasion of Ukraine has the potential to become a war extending throughout Europe.  Putin has destroyed Aleppo and Grozny and has threatened the use of nuclear weapons.  Russian soldiers were sent into the area around the contaminated and still radioactive Chernobyl nuclear plant. Now they are stationed in the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe.   Contact Max at mobuszewski2001 at Comcast dot net or 410-323-1607.

25] – Join the Maryland CPUSA [md@cpusa.org] on Tues., July 16 at 7 PM ET to hear from representatives of two local unions who will be speaking on the history of their struggle, their ongoing work, and what can be done to help!  Learn more about the fights of local workers and how best to get involved! For additional context and history from a Marxist perspective, please read, if possible, William Zebulon Foster's "The Strike Situation and Organized Labor's Strategy." It is a brief rendering describing a historical situation and organized labor's response to it, explaining strategic considerations and showing how the labor movement has moved through history - particularly under Marxist guidance.
