Turn out to the council building to pressure the Council into doing the right thing! At 8 AM, rally for rent stabilization at the County Council Building; at 9:10 AM, pack the 3rd floor council room and at 9:30 AM, the council session will begin.  A final vote is expected. Rent stabilization legislation would cap rent increases to 3% + Consumer Price Index annually, with a permanent maximum increase of 6%. Landlords and other rent stabilization opponents are making their opposition to this legislation known. 28] – Back from the Brink [info@preventnuclearwar.org] will have an organizing meetup on Tues., July 18 at 1 PM ET.  Discuss the Oppenheimer film strategies, August anniversaries of the atomic bombings in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, H. Res. 77 progress, and what's in store for the fall.  RSVP at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86434879139?pwd=OERHYTFyeEpyalBVNEZQNlNBUmFmQT09&emci=7ea52af0-f21f-ee11-a9bb-00224832eb73&emdi=35ad7394-fb1f-ee11-a9bb-00224832eb73&ceid=13712990#success.

29] -- Join the Baltimore Nonviolence Center on Tues., July 18 from 4:30 to 5 PM ET at 33rd and N. Charles Sts. The invasion of Ukraine has the potential to become a war extending throughout Europe.  Putin has destroyed Aleppo and Grozny and has threatened the use of nuclear weapons.  Russian soldiers were sent into the area around the contaminated and still radioactive Chernobyl nuclear plant. Now they are stationed in the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, the largest in Europe.   People who believe in peace and justice should come forward and take the risks of peace. The burial sites continue to expose ruthless war crimes by the invaders, Contact Max at mobuszewski2001 at Comcast dot net or 410-323-1607.

30] – On Tues., July 18 from 5:30 to 7:30 PM ET, join the Ohio Democratic Party Vote NO Campaign and its virtual phone bank and training.  Get with other pro-democracy callers on phone banks run by the Ohio Democratic Party to help ensure that the 60% threshold to pass a citizen-led constitutional amendment never, ever becomes Ohio law. Use a dialer to make calls! Call as many voters throughout Ohio as humanly possible to turn them out to vote. Calling voters is a fantastic way to play a vital role in our turnout efforts!  At the outset of a phone bank, you will be trained on how to make phone calls using a dialer! After you attend a training and the phone bank afterwards, you'll be equipped to make calls anytime that works for your schedule in the future. 35] – People for the American Way [alerts@pfaw.org] will dive into recent SCOTUS decisions on Tues., July 18 at 7 PM ET. In the final weeks of the recent Supreme Court term, the far-right bench wasted no time in continuing to upend decades of progress and trampling on rights and protections that we’ve spent years fighting to obtain. In the wake of these awful decisions, many people are left wondering how these rulings will affect their daily lives, what rights might be targeted next by the Court, and what they can do to fight back against these decisions and protect our rights.  RSVP at https://peoplefor.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_8uKOhTQEQIqbJw9UKPYGDg#/registration.
