60] – Join
the Catholic Nonviolent Action at the Jornada por la Justicia in El
Paso, TX. There is a Teach-In from Fri., Oct. 11 through Sun., Oct.
13. A Public Action is scheduled for Sat. Oct. 12 from 3 to 7 PM. This
is organized by the Catholic Nonviolent Campaign for Immigrant Children with
Jornada por la Justicia. Images of immigrant children detained in cages,
separated from family members, and living in unsanitary, unhealthy conditions have
outraged the nation recently. The faith community has decried this
treatment of children not only as a violation of human dignity and rights, but
also as contrary to religious teachings and the sacred call to care for all
people, especially those who are most at risk such as children.
Stop the Inhumanity! Catholic organizations have
organized a nonviolent campaign to urge an end to the traumatizing abuse of
immigrant children and their families by the U.S. government. Phase three
of the campaign will be to join a national teach-in which includes a prayerful, risk-taking, public action at the border in El
Paso, TX A briefing on the action will occur around 3 PM and the action will
take place at about 5 PM. National organizations are following the lead of
local groups in El Paso, such as Hope Border Institute, and national Catholic
leaders in the newly formed Latinx Catholic Leadership Coalition which
initiated the Teach-In event. In solidarity, stand with them as they lift up
their local concerns about the immigration system, access to asylum, and racism
in El Paso. Anyone is invited, including those who are not Catholic. The event
will include prayer, ritual, and a call to action by Catholic leaders. Because
of the urgency and depth of the injustice, it will also generate some creative
tension and healthy disruption of the status quo during the action.
The coalition’s participation in this event follows a powerful
mobilization of Catholic faith leaders who
launched the campaign in Washington DC, on July 18, a follow-up national action
in Newark, NJ on Sept. 4 with Cardinal Tobin, as well as local actions. Since
the start of this campaign, there has been a release of over 2500 children,
emptying both Homestead, FL and Carizzo Springs, TX influx facilities, as well
as an increase in the discharge rates of migrant children from detention.
However, the Administration is considering re-opening these facilities in late
October and increasing family detention. RSVP at https://www.facebook.com/events/472661866921686/.

States. If you would like to be part of the action of nonviolent civil
resistance, meet at Lafayette Park, across from the White House at 10 AM on
Friday. If you have questions about the action, email joyfirst5@gmail.com or malachykilbride@yahoo.com. Go to https://marchonpentagon.com/2019-march/ or

from 7 to 10 PM, check out Until We’re All Free: Criminalization of Communities
of Color at Red Emma's Bookstore Coffeehouse, 1225 Cathedral St., Baltimore
21201. Communities throughout America are under attack, on a number of fronts.
The state, media, and ordinary people are complicit in the criminalization of
people of color, across intersections and in a variety of absurdly cruel ways.
The evening’s panel discussion, facilitated by immigration activist Alejandra
Pablos, will focus on the notion of disposability, and on the dehumanization of
Black, Brown, Indigenous, and other marginalized communities that has
facilitated atrocities past and present. The speakers will discuss their work,
and how they and others have been impacted by criminalization, and what can be
done to fight it. This event is free, with a suggested donation of $5 to
support Alejandra’ #KeepAleFree campaign.
The
other members of the panel are Qiana Johnson, founder of Life After Release
Inc, an organization providing reentry services to formerly incarcerated Prince
George’s County residents, and Kasai Richardson, a writer and facilitator

with youth and their communities to disrupt state-sanctioned violence and the
school-to-prison pipeline. Go to http://redemmas.org/

80] – The Trump Administration is again
beating the war drums. Most recently, the target is Iran. Should
the Trump administration initiate an act of war against Iran, consider joining
us. It is a violation of U.S. law for the Trump Administration to attack a country that
has not attacked us, as only Congress can declare war. The Trump administration
is nevertheless beating the war drums for war against Iran and Venezuela.
Should a war criminal, John Bolton, convince Trump to attack either of these
countries, such a military strike would demand an immediate and unequivocal
response from us to show that we will not tolerate his abuse of power.
Let's mobilize to show that we the
people will not tolerate another military adventure, which would be bound
to have profound negative consequences. If a military strike against Iran
or Venezuela takes place, then meet at 33rd and N.
Charles St., Baltimore 21218. If the attack is before 2 PM local
time, then the event will begin at 5 PM, local time. If the attack
occurs after 5 PM local time, then the event will begin at 5 PM,
local time, the following day. Contact Max at 410-323-1607 or

83] -- Join an extraordinary global campaign for the
elimination of nuclear weapons: http://www.globalzero.org/sign-declaration.
A growing group of leaders around the world is calling for the elimination of
nuclear weapons and a majority of the global public agrees. This is an
historic window of opportunity. With momentum already building in favor
of Zero, a major show of support from people around the world could tip the
balance. When it comes to nuclear weapons, one is one too many.

“One
is called to live nonviolently, even if the change one works for seems
impossible. It may or may not be possible to turn the US around through
nonviolent revolution. But one thing favors such an attempt: the total
inability of violence to change anything for the better" - Daniel Berrigan
