53] The Maryland Consumer Rights Coalition (MCRC) and several leading Maryland fair-housing organizations will host a special screening event for "Stealing Trust: Marylanders Speak Out on Frauds, Scams, and Financial Abuses," MCRC's documentary film about Maryland victims of financial fraud and mortgage lending abuses. MCRC Executive Director Marceline White and leaders of Baltimore's St. Ambrose Housing Aid Center, and the Baltimore Homeownership Preservation Coalition will discuss the crisis. 62] – Bill Barry is teaching a 3-credit course on the 1930s, covering Black Thursday to Pearl Harbor at CCBC-Essex starting Thurs., Feb. 2 5:45 to 8:40 PM.  He sees a lot of comparisons between That Depression and This Depression, and how people and the government responded. See great videos and listen to guest speakers on this period of our history. This is a 3-credit college course but you can audit or just--in the spirit of the 30s--sit in. 63] – "This Is Where We Take Our Stand" is being screened on Thurs., Feb. 2 from 6 to 8 PM at Busboys & Poets, 14th & V Sts, NW, WDC.  The long awaited movie about Winter Soldier 2008 will have its première sponsored by the Iraq Veterans Against the War.  Following the film director David Zeiger ("Sir No Sir") & main character Geoff Millard will answer questions.  The film will be featured on PBS.

Winter Soldier: Iraq and Afghanistan was an event at which more than 200 U.S. military veterans and active duty soldiers, as well as Iraqi and Afghan civilians, provided accounts of their experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan. The event was inspired by the Winter Soldier Investigation of 1971 and held from Mar. 13 to Mar. 16, 2008, timed for the fifth anniversary of the 2003 invasion of Iraq, at the National Labor College in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Titled "The Activists," it chronicles the anti-war movement over the last 10 years, and the major players in the movement. They have filmed us in Baltimore and D.C. and New York City and other places.  After years of filming and researching, they look forward to showing the final cut in a few short months.
