Years later Oppenheimer was recorded speaking those words in a tone of sorrowful and resigned regret for what he did.  Now, it is up to us to undo and put an end to nuclear weapons, by such nuclear weapons producers as Lockheed Martin, the world's #1 war profiteer, and to support the United Nations Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.

Gather on Sat., July 16 at noon at 6th & Market Streets in front of the Philadelphia Federal Building (catty-corner from the Liberty Bell). You are invited to join a vigil remembering the 77th anniversary of the first nuclear test blast, Alamogordo, New Mexico, code-named “TRINITY.” The vigil will consist of large banners and posters including the words remembered and spoken by Oppenheimer, scientific director of the Manhattan Project, about the test that would question life itself and future. During the vigil there will also be readings from Manhattan Project scientists who witnessed the Trinity test.
