] – Tune into Lebanon: Economic Crisis, Political Gridlock — with Rania Khalek on Thurs., Dec. 2 from 4 to 5 PM EST. On Oct. 17, 2019, the people of Lebanon took to the streets to fight for their basic human rights. The normalized daily life of the average Lebanese family includes limited electricity, crumbling healthcare, and a nonexistent future for an entire generation of children. The devaluation of the Lebanese pound has caused many to make the choice of whether to buy milk or to pay for electricity. The mobilization of youth demanding basic rights with no foreign political intervention had led corrupt political parties to make the excuse of how embassies are funding the revolution. This sparked a violent response from the corrupt government and ruling political parties. Register at bit.ly/Lebanon-khalek.

] – Jared Schablein [Admin@lowershoreprogressives.com] wrote that on Thurs., Dec. 2 at 6 PM you should attend a Lower Shore Progressive Caucus Rally with Heather Mizeur. This is a hybrid rally supporting the endorsed candidate for Maryland's First Congressional District, Heather Mizeur. This event is essential for three primary reasons. It shows the Mizeur campaign the Progressive Movement's strength in the path to victory on the Lower Shore. It will show local media and the districts at large that Progressives are fired up and ready to defeat Andy Harris in 2022. Most importantly this event allows you the chance to learn about Heather's progressive credentials and how to defeat far-right congressperson Andy Harris in 2022. You can also get materials to show your support for Heather at the event as well!
With the breakthrough of modern medicine, there will be an in-person option to you the membership. The event will be at the Inspire One (Draper Building) located at 808 Priscilla St, Salisbury, MD, 21804. All attendees should arrive with proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test. Mask usage is also encouraged during the event. To attend this event virtually, you can do so by registering at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZIvc-uvqT0jE9bryV-9tf7-09c1jgi9Ykzy.
] – On Throwdown Thursdays, phone bank and text bank with the Progressive Maryland Team on Dec. 2 & Dec. 9 at 6 PM ET and make calls for the Edward Burroughs campaign for Prince George's County Council. To learn more about Edward, visit his website: http://www.edwardburroughs.com/. Start using these Thursdays to throw down for progressive candidates that need help to win. New to texting? New to election work? No problem, you will be trained! Eventually once there is a roll out of election endorsements in the coming months, the time will be used to elect as many progressives into office as possible!! Sign up at https://www.mobilize.us/progressivemarylandneweraproject/event/416692/?emci=79147e4b-523b-ec11-9820-c896653b26c8&emdi=34ba16cc-573b-ec11-9820-c896653b26c8&ceid=136680.
] – Join Common Cause activists around the country at a virtual phonebank to urge voters in key states to demand their senators’ support the Freedom to Vote Act. Work together to demand bold changes to our democracy to create a government that represents all of us, not big corporations or special interests. Call on voters in targeted states and connect them to their Senators to support the Freedom to Vote Act, and to eliminate the filibuster. These phone banks are subject to change based on variables. Our democracy is in crisis: with redistricting around the corner and hundreds of voter suppression laws being introduced in states across the country, we do not have time to wait. RSVP at https://www.mobilize.us/pfaw/event/376178/?utm_source=PFAW to call on Thurs., Dec. 2 from 6 to 8 PM ET.
] – Nukewatch [nukewatch1=lakeland.ws@vrmailer3.com] says it's time to make some noise for nuclear abolition! Come together on Thurs., Dec. 2 at 8 PM ET on Zoom for the NUCLEAR BAN TREATY PLANNING. It was one year ago on January 22 that nuclear weapons finally reached their rightful status under international law – banned! Just as a year ago, when over 100 actions across the US celebrated the entry into force of the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, this January 22, 2022 supporters will again take to the streets. Begin planning your local action now to mark the anniversary, congratulate the countries that have ratified the ban since then, and pressure the United States to sign onto the nuclear ban treaty. Join the planning meeting at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUrf-CvqDIqHNxJhBeZ-QycGcQxw38zZPKs. There will be a follow-up planning meeting on January 6, 2022 at 7 PM ET. Save the date!
