67] – Spring migration is underway, and that means two species are meeting up all along the Atlantic Flyway—Red Knots and Horseshoe Crabs. But both species are in peril. Audubon Maryland-DC’s mission is to restore the natural ecosystems of Maryland and the District of Columbia, focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of humanity and the earth's biological diversity. Thousands of these ancient crabs come ashore every May to spawn, and shorebirds like Red Knots rely on horseshoe crab eggs to fuel their 9,000-mile-journey from the tip of South America to Arctic Canada. But both species are in peril.

68] - World BEYOND War is continuing its online activities on Fri., May 29 and Sat., May 30 to talk about nonviolence strategies, hear from organizers who have successfully shut down weapons expos in their communities, and learn about viable pathways to convert from a war to peace economy. On Fri., May 29 from 3 to 6 PM ET, hear two back-to-back panel presentations, with plenty of time for Q&A and discussion after each panel. First, from 3 to 4:30 PM, talk about effective strategies for organizing against weapons expos. Hear from Siana Bangura in the UK, Te Ao Pritchard in New Zealand, and Richard Sanders and Colin Stuart in Canada about their experiences shutting down weapons expos. Also share tips for running a campaign in your community. 74] – On Fri., May 29 at midnight through Sat., May 30 at 11:59 PM, join the St. Francis Flock Plant-Based Food Drive, hosted by St. Francis Flock at the Manna Food Center, 9311 Gaither Road, Gaithersburg 20877. The neighbors need help but it doesn't have to come at the cost of animals' lives. Help those who need it most by bringing plant-based donations to Manna. It will really demonstrate the deep care and compassion of Christ Episcopal Church, Rockville and the greater community of those concerned about people and animal welfare.
