Friends,
If you are a Maryland resident, can you sign on to the letters to Ben Cardin and Chris Van Hollen? Can you sign on to a letter to Representatives Cummings, Ruppersberger or Sarbanes? Or to your representative? These letters will be hand-delivered on Tuesday. Would you be able to join us in delivering the letters?
If you are a resident of another state, can you sign on and get a similar letter to your senators and representative? I look forward to your response.
Kagiso,
Max
Senator Chris Van Hollen
110 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, DC 20510
Dear Senator Van Hollen:
We, your undersigned constituents, write to ask you to do everything possible to prevent a nuclear war with North Korea. On that point, we are pleased to see that you are a cosponsor of S.200, "Restricting First Use of Nuclear Weapons Act," introduced by Ed Markey.
We ask you to co-sponsor and advocate a floor vote on the following Senate Bills as well:
S.2016, "No Unconstitutional Strike Against North Korea Act", introduced by Ed Markey; and
S.2047, "Preventing Preemptive War in North Korea Act of 2017,' introduced by Chris Murphy.
Some legislators have told us that they will not support a bill that they do not expect to pass. We feel this is a mistake and hope you agree. Please push for un-amended votes on these bills, win or lose.
We also ask that you insert statements in the Congressional Record in support of the United Nations resolution passed in July 2017 advocating a universal prohibition of nuclear weapons.
Sincerely yours,
Senator Benjamin Cardin

Representative John P. Sarbanes
600 Baltimore Avenue
# 303
Towson, MD 21204
Dear Representative Sarbanes,
We the undersigned constituents are concerned that if talks between Kim and Trump fail, President Trump may use the failure as a pretext for military action against North Korea. An invasion may be even more likely if the President feels under attack by the Mueller investigation.
Military action could lead to the deaths of tens of thousands of North Koreans, South Koreans and Americans stationed on the peninsula. If nuclear weapons are involved, the deaths could be in the 10's of millions. If China gets drawn in, the number could go even higher and threaten the entire globe.
We urge you to sign on to bills in Congress that would bar the President from taking such action preemptively or without going to Congress first. For example, there is HR-4837 Ro Khanna’s bill: “No unconstitutional strike against North Korea.” Please co-sponsor this bill. Representatives Raskin and Cummings are co-sponsors.
Sincerely yours,
