Friends,

Call 410-366-1637 or email mobuszewski at verizon.net for directions. The agenda will discuss the last visit to the National Security Agency, the conversation with Bruce Gagnon, the Third Wednesday visit to Rep. Let me know if you can sign on the letter below, and if you can join us at the Sarbanes’ office in Towson on Wednesday. See you tonight.

Re: Important Legislation

October 17, 2012

Dear Congressperson Sarbanes:

The Pledge of Resistance-Baltimore joined a broad, national coalition which has worked to educate members of Congress nation-wide each month since January 2010. We're working to inform you about the following:

Financial speculation excesses crashed our economy. We urge you to cosponsor Rep. Keith Ellison's "Inclusive Prosperity Act" to enact small tax on speculation aka a Robin Hood Tax which would increase revenues, limit speculation, help preserve the social safety net, make our tax structure much fairer, empower the middle class and kick start our economy.

Healthcare is a human right. We urge you to cosponsor and support legislation to guarantee healthcare for all: HR 676--Rep. John Conyers’s bill to establish an improved and expanded Medicare for All program; and HR 1200--Rep. Jim McDermott’s American Health Security Act of 2011.

With the 12th Anniversary of the War just past, our mission in Afghanistan is over. We urge you to learn about HR 780-- Rep. Barbara Lee’s bill to fund the safe and orderly withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Finally, we are seeking an end to the use of killer drone strikes, which we believe to be illegal and unconstitutional. Would you be willing to speak out in Congress against the use of drones which are killing civilians in at least five countries—Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Somalia and Yemen?

We look forward to your response. And when you are ready, we would like to meet with you, preferably in Baltimore. But if necessary, we will travel to your D.C. office. Thank you for your time and attention.

Peace,

Max Obuszewski, on behalf of Pledge of Resistance-Baltimore/Fund Our Communities
