37] – Jewish Voice for Peace is doing a Power Half-Hour for Gaza: Channel grief & outrage into action to stop a genocide. A year into the genocide in Gaza, we are overwhelmed with sorrow and rage. There are no words to describe the devastating pain of the past year in which the Israeli military has killed over 44,000 Palestinians in Gaza, including more than 17,000 children. The International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court have both declared that Israel must stop the genocidal acts being committed on the Palestinian people. And the U.S. government is actively supporting the Israeli military as it wreaks devastation on the over 2 million Palestinians in Gaza. JVP continues to come together as a political community in its daily half-hour to take action. Join in and take collective action to demand an arms embargo to Israel, immediate end to the genocide, a lasting ceasefire and an end to Israeli siege, apartheid, occupation, and oppression of Palestinians and Lebanon. All are welcome. All are needed. Get involved at 3 PM ET on Wed., June 25, Thurs., June 26, Mon., June 30 & Tues., July 1. The Trump Administration’s “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) is masquerading as a cost-cutting project that, in reality, boosts billionaires’ profits at our expense. This phenomenon shows up explicitly at the Pentagon, which continues to reap budget boosts while failing repeated audits, sinking taxpayer dollars into wasteful weapons, and boosting the bottom line for corporate profiteers like Space X. At the same time, DOGE and Congress have put human needs like health care and education on the chopping block. Join the briefing with Savannah Wooten from Public Citizen, Lindsay Koshgarian from the Institute for Policy Studies, and Naveed Shah from Common Defense to learn more about how DOGE is using “efficiency” as a cover to slash programs we rely on, while boosting the profits of billionaires.

You do not need to be old to join this movement. This event will continue through August 27.

41] –The Committee for the Republic [events@committeefortherepublic.org] on Wed., June 25 at 7 PM will host Bruce Fein who will address the Presidential War against Iran on a Zoom salon. Unfortunately, President Trump’s attack on Iran compels the Committee for the Republic to host a salon this week. President Trump ordered the bombing of Iran without a constitutionally required congressional declaration of war. Vice Chairman Bruce Fein will survey the history and purpose of the Constitution’s Declare War Clause and the consequences of allowing unconstitutional presidential wars to stand without impeachment. President Trump denied Congress even a cameo appearance in his unilateral war against Iran. Congress went unmentioned in his national address and Truth Social messaging as if Congress had been airbrushed out of the Constitution. Congress has acquiesced in its diminishment to an ink blot exhibiting both cowardness and constitutional illiteracy. As James Madison -- father of the Constitution -- underscored, “knowledge will forever govern ignorance; and a people who mean to be their own governors must arm themselves with the power that knowledge gives.” RSVP at https://us06web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_KUxb-cy_Sxab2luTV1li6A#/registration

Get next involved on Thurs., July 3 and on Thurs., July 10. On July 17, honor the anniversary of the passing of civil rights icon, John Lewis—not with ceremonies, but with action. This is more than a protest—this is a moral reckoning; a fight against voter suppression; a continuation of Congressman Lewis’ legacy and a new front in the freedom struggle; this is a movement for Democracy!
