30] – Join
a phone zap organized by the With Us, For Us Campaign to tell Baltimore City's
Budget and Appropriations Committee to vote YES on 25-0036 for a PILOT
Taskforce! The City Council Budget and Appropriations Committee has scheduled a
work session on the PILOT Taskforce Bill (25-0036) for Tues., Sept. 9 at 9 AM.
Members of the Committee are expected to vote on the proposed legislation during
this work session. This bill must pass out of committee. Fourteen of
Baltimore’s largest tax-exempt institutions utilize $47 million in city
services annually, but only contribute a collective $6 million a year in the
form of a PILOT program. We recognize that federal funding cuts impact these
institutions, but they maintain large endowments, bring in consistent revenue,
and continue to pay top executives seven-figure salaries. When the PILOT
agreement expires in 2026, Baltimore City must renegotiate its terms to support
the city’s working families. The PILOT Taskforces will ensure this process is
fair and transparent.

The genocide in Gaza has rightfully been front and center in the struggle for human rights for Palestinians. Every day, to our horror, we see Israel's vicious bombing, sniping, imprisoning, and starvation of the civilian population there. Less visible, but also deadly and inhumane is the military occupation and settlement in the West Bank. There, on a daily basis, Palestinian homes are demolished, their land is stolen, their homes invaded, their loved ones dragged off to be tortured in prisons, their very presence made precarious by the constant harassment and humiliation from the Israeli army and armed and violent settlers.
39] –On Wed., Sept. 3 at 8:30 PM ET, Action Corps activists across the U.S. will gather for an urgent, one-hour call. Connect, strategize, and take action to stop the U.S. from fueling genocide in Gaza. RSVP to Isaac Evans-Frantz, Action Corps at isaac@actioncorps.org
