Join the Social Housing Working Group for its biweekly organizing meeting. Learn about its latest activities, what they're planning for the future, and how to get involved. The Social Housing Working Group seeks to educate Metro DC DSA chapter members and the general public about social housing and to facilitate collective action in support of the passage and implementation of the Green New Deal for Housing Amendment Act. The legislation proposes to create mixed-income, district-owned housing with market rate units that subsidize a larger number of affordable units. It's a pioneering approach that deepens affordability, invests surplus funds into the creation of more social housing, and locks-in financial sustainability. The bill also includes climate and labor standards and elected tenant boards with oversight over building management. This event is open to both DSA Members and supporters

Archbishop Wester, whose Archdiocese of Santa Fe is home to Los Alamos and Sandia National Laboratories, has been a leading US voice against nuclear weapons. His 2022 pastoral letter, Living in the Light of Christ’s Peace: A Conversation toward Nuclear Disarmament, continues to inspire national and international efforts for peace.  Last month, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the US’s atomic bombing of Japan, Archbishop Wester joined Washington DC's Cardinal Robert McElroy, Chicago's Cardinal Blase Cupich, and Seattle's Archbishop Paul Etienne on a pilgrimage of peace to Hiroshima and Nagasaki to promote prayer, dialogue, and advocacy for nuclear disarmament. It was Archbishop Wester’s third pilgrimage to Japan.  The final PAX Mass of the year will be held on December 18.

67] –Progressive Democrats of America [info@pdamerica.org] on Thurs., Sept. 18 at 9 PM ET will hold its weekly Campaign to Victory Call.  With the ongoing MAGA attacks on our economy, the social safety net, our liberties, democracy, and rule of law, no question it can be easy to get depressed.
