44] –The Islamic regime in Iran is using execution
verdicts as a desperate act to suppress peaceful demonstrations and protests
due to the disastrous economic condition in Iran. The judicial system in
Iran executes innocent activist and individuals by forced confessions, torture
and sham trials. The unjust death sentences for Pakhshan Azizi and
Varisheh Moradi is another act of desperation by the Islamic Republic’s use of
capital punishment to suppress members of minority communities and terrorize
Iranian women who are fighting tirelessly for their rights as equal citizens of
Iran. You are asked to show your urgent support for contacting the United
Nations Human Rights office and Iranian mission at United Nations to demand the
Islamic republic of Iran stop the unjust execution verdicts for both women and
hundreds of other prisoners on death row in Iran. These prisoners must receive fair
trials according to international judicial standards, including the right for
all prisoners to independent counsels.

46] – Jewish Voice for Peace is doing a Power Half-Hour for Gaza: Channel grief & outrage into action to stop a genocide. A year into the genocide in Gaza, we are overwhelmed with sorrow and rage. There are no words to describe the devastating pain of the past year in which the Israeli military has killed over 44,000 Palestinians in Gaza, including more than 17,000 children. The International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court have both declared that Israel must stop the genocidal acts being committed on the Palestinian people. And the U.S. government is actively supporting the Israeli military as it wreaks devastation on the over 2 million Palestinians in Gaza. JVP continues to come together as a political community in its daily half-hour to take action. Join in and take collective action to demand an arms embargo to Israel, immediate end to the genocide, a lasting ceasefire and an end to Israeli siege, apartheid, occupation, and oppression of Palestinians and Lebanon. All are welcome. All are needed. Get involved at 3 PM ET on Thurs., May 15, Mon., May 19, Tues., May 20 & Wed., May 21. 49] – Drew and the crew [drew@198methods.org] on Thurs., May 15 at 6:30 PM wants you to say No budget deal for fossil fueled fascists. Trump and his fossil fueled fascist allies in Congress are trying to pass a big, bad, budget bill that guts vital services like healthcare, eldercare, childcare, and climate action to pay for tax breaks and handouts to billionaires and polluting corporations. Not content to destroy our climate and care, the bill also threatens immigrants and anyone the regime dislikes with deportation, expands the US War machine and militarized policing, and targets non-profits and community groups for extermination. A delegation of US peace activists traveled to north, central and south Viet Nam for an anniversary with great meaning in both countries. Part of the group went on to Cambodia and Laos. The visit amplified the importance of ongoing people to people engagement when the New York Times reported that the Trump Administration barred the US ambassador's involvement with Vietnamese commemorations of the 50th anniversary and with participating American delegations. 52] – Christians for a Free Palestine [info+christians-against-genocide-info@email.actionnetwork.org] on Thurs., May 15 at 8 PM ET will hold a community call. Last week, the State Department announced it will be effectively closing the Office of Palestinian Affairs. Established in 2022 after the first Trump administration moved the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem, this office was an independent diplomatic conduit between Palestinians and the State Department that was not subject to oversight by U.S. officials involved in relations with Israel. This made it an important venue for the U.S.-Palestinian diplomatic relationship. Now, the work of this office will be under the control of the U.S. embassy in Jerusalem and under the direction of Mike Huckabee, a leading Christian Zionist and the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, despite his record of anti-Palestinian racism
53] –Americans for Palestine [info@ampalestine.org] on Thurs., May 15 at 8 PM ET will hold a discussion commemorating 77 years of the Palestinian Nakba -- "Nakba 77: Reaffirming Palestinian Return & Liberation.” The Nakba in Arabic means catastrophe, and rests in the collective memory of the Palestinian people. The Nakba represents the ongoing forcible displacement, ethnic cleansing, land theft, and systematic oppression of the Palestinian people. While the Nakba resulted in the shattering of the Palestinian collective, it also consolidated a shared national consciousness that is expressed in the unceasing steadfastness, resilience, and resistance of the Palestinian people. The past 19 months represent the most extreme period of the Nakba, where Israel’s genocidal campaign in Gaza persists unabated, aided and abetted with US weapons and tax dollars, not to mention IOF and by extension settler violence in the West Bank, not to mention the already existent apartheid regime impacting all Palestinians. RSVP at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_d_PUcyjXSY
