The Wednesday Movement launched on March 12, 2025 when disgruntled seniors took to the streets in Baltimore to make their feelings known. The Movement, a weekly Pro-Democracy, Anti-Trump, Anti-Putin vigil, gathers on a heavily trafficked Baltimore street corner. We invite others who feel the same way to join the Movement. You do not need to be old to join this movement.

 As water rates in Baltimore City continue to rise, more and more people are finding themselves in debt. The Office of Water Advocacy and Consumer Appeals and income-based water billing programs are looking to address these concerns. Learn how we’re working to ensure these programs can be successful in keeping water affordable for Baltimore residents. The RENEW Act, a potentially life-saving bill that will help address some of our biggest climate concerns, will be discussed. This summer, extreme heat and flooding led to a number of deaths across the state. Maryland needs funding for vital programs like flood and heat management, and fossil fuel companies should be the ones footing the bill.

Join Metro DC DSA’s Internationalism Working Group for a training on how to canvas for the Apartheid Free DC campaign with DC for Palestine. You will learn about the crime of apartheid, how to participate in canvas efforts, and how to support organizations in finding alternatives to products that support the Zionist occupation of Palestine.

The Apartheid-Free Communities network formed in 2022, following the emerging consensus among the international human rights community that Israel’s treatment of the Palestinian people amounts to the Crime of Apartheid. This U.S. coalition is convened by the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) and is part of the international BDS movement.  DC for Palestine started the Apartheid Free DC campaign when it joined this network and expanded the pledge to call for our community members to uphold specific boycott/divestment targets as part of signing on as Apartheid-Free.  In response to Israel's escalated genocide in Gaza, funded by the U.S. and supported by U.S. companies, CFP is launching a Christian boycott of Chevron, which fuels the genocide. The launch of this national campaign on Chevron and its affiliate companies includes partners at the U.S. Campaign for Palestinian Rights and American Friends Service Committee.  This strategy intends to build power through economic disruption, standing on the shoulders of faith leaders who led boycotts of Shell Oil to end the apartheid in South Africa, boycotts of Gulf Oil in the 1960s in protest of the Portuguese occupation in Angola, and numerous other economic boycotts that have been successful in freedom struggles in the U.S. Engaging people of faith in the Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement is essential to ending the genocide and shifting power for a Free Palestine.
