49] – Jewish Voice for Peace is doing a Power Half-Hour for Gaza: Channel grief & outrage into action to stop a genocide.  A year into the genocide in Gaza, we are overwhelmed with sorrow and rage. There are no words to describe the devastating pain of the past year in which the Israeli military has killed over 44,000 Palestinians in Gaza, including more than 17,000 children. The International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court have both declared that Israel must stop the genocidal acts being committed on the Palestinian people. And the U.S. government is actively supporting the Israeli military as it wreaks devastation on the over 2 million Palestinians in Gaza. JVP continues to come together as a political community in its daily half-hour to take action. Join in and take collective action to demand an arms embargo to Israel, immediate end to the genocide, a lasting ceasefire and an end to Israeli siege, apartheid, occupation, and oppression of Palestinians and Lebanon. All are welcome. All are needed. Get involved at 3 PM ET on Thurs., April 10, Tues., April 15, Wed., April 16 & Thurs., April 17. Republican Mark Christie is now the FERC chair. Rumors of staffing cuts. The possibility of FERC being more directly under the control and dictates of the Executive branch. The pressure is on FERC to speed the process of approving fossil fuel infrastructure projects by stripping away the few environmental reviews they do bother to conduct.  Register at https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/IP8ta0nhQOyzJv_SgWVzGw

54] – Timmon [timmon@warheadstowindmills.org] on Thurs., April 10 at 7 PM ET wants you to check out Divest your City for People & Planet.  RSVP at https://actionnetwork.org/events/protect-people-and-planet-divest-your-city?source=direct_link&referrer=group-warheads-to-windmills-coalition ͏

͏Divestment is a powerful tool being used around the world to put pressure on the companies doing damage to people and planet. Municipal Divestment has a strong history of moving money out of humanitarian and environmental crises. Getting your city to shift funds away from unethical systems sends a clear message about what we value as a society. Hear 3 stories of successful city divestment campaigns across the country that took a stand against companies complicit in the climate crisis, the threat of nuclear war, and the genocide in Gaza. Examine where these campaigns intersected, the lessons we learned, and how we can build a strong and focused movement of institutional pressure to protect people and the planet.

55] – Popular Democracy [cpd@populardemocracy.org] on Thurs., April 10 at 7 PM ET will hold a National Fight Back call. Take a stand for the 14th Amendment—a cornerstone of Black liberation that was born to ensure nobody is treated as less than a human being.  Right now, extremists are trying to rip that foundation away to target immigrants, erase our communities, and unravel the progress we’ve fought generations to secure.  It’s time to be in community with one another, hear from elected leaders fighting for our rights like Rep. Nydia Velasquez, and recharge for the fight ahead with spoken word artist Camilo Montoya. These calls will continue each Thursday through December 18. 56] – The Progressive Maryland Team [info@progressivemaryland.org] is joining on Thurs., April 10 at 8 PM ET with People’s Action, who's hosting a Storytelling workshop for anyone impacted by budget cuts or layoffs. If you rely on Medicaid, food assistance, free school meals, student loans, or were laid off from a federal job, this space is for you.  Elon Musk, Donald Trump and the billionaires running Washington are stealing from programs that meet the needs of working families in order to give themselves trillions of dollars in tax cuts. That ain't right!  This workshop is intended to flex our superpower: stories from working class people. Your story can help us move others and hold our leaders accountable. We don’t have kings in America, and we won’t let a handful of billionaires run our country into the ground. As we face the growing threat of autocracy in our country, it's more crucial than ever that we come together to build a stronger, more united movement for freedom and democracy. RSVP at https://www.mobilize.us/risefordemocracy/event/763611/?utm_source=PC&emci=4289fa2e-4b04-f011-90cd-0022482a9fb7&emdi=984c372d-5304-f011-90cd-0022482a9fb7&ceid=24639284
